Heat Safety

Heat-related illnesses are preventable. Knowing how to work safely in hot weather can help prevent heat stress injuries and heat stroke. Heat illness can occur indoors or outdoors and may lead to serious injury or death. Risk increases with high heat, humidity, physical exertion, PPE, and lack of acclimatization.

Remember to:

  • Watch out for each other.

  • Know the signs of heat-related illnesses.

  • Take frequent breaks.

  • Drink plenty of water and electrolytes.

  • Avoid caffeine.

  • Eat smaller meals.
