Insects, Spiders, and Snake Safety

Employees working outdoors or around storage areas, equipment, and vegetation may encounter insects, spiders, and snakes. While most are harmless, some can cause painful bites or stings and may require medical attention.

    • Stay alert and inspect work areas before starting work.

    • Wear appropriate PPE, including long pants, gloves, and sturdy boots.

    • Keep work areas clean and free of debris where pests and snakes can hide.

    • Avoid reaching into areas you cannot see.

    • Do not disturb insect nests or attempt to handle snakes.

    • Move away calmly and give the animal space.

    • Report nests, hives, or snake sightings to your supervisor.

    • Never try to catch, kill, or relocate snakes or other wildlife.

    • Clean the area with soap and water.

    • Apply a cold pack to reduce swelling.

    • Seek medical attention if symptoms worsen or an allergic reaction occurs.

    • Call emergency services immediately.

    • Keep the victim calm and limit movement.

    • Do not cut the wound, apply ice, or use a tourniquet.

    • Seek emergency medical treatment as quickly as possible.

Biometric Screening Event in Lexington, SC, is Next Wednesday, August 19!

Register today on the Sharecare app! This is not only an important insight into your overall health, but you can also earn $100 toward your HSA!

The biometric screening includes height, weight, blood pressure, and other measurements. Quest Diagnostics will be performing the screenings. Appointment times are from 8:00 AM (EST) to 11:45 AM (EST). Contact your HR representative if you have any questions. Directions for registering are below.

Login to Sharecare and click on Achieve at the top navigation.

Click on Programs in the left navigation.

3.

Click on Biometric Screening under Suggested Programs.

4.

Once you are on the Biometric Screening page, enter/select Lexington, SC, for the event. Choose August 19 as the date. Select the time from the drop-down menu. Once you submit, you should receive a confirmation email.
